THE UNINTENTIONAL ENTREPRENEUR with attorney and entrepreneur LAURA E. JORDAN Esq. 

 

 “The Unintentional Entrepreneur” and will focus on legal considerations for 40-plus individuals who find themselves considering entrepreneurship at an unexpected stage in their lives.


Ms. Jordan will focus on choice of entity (corporation, LLC, partnership, sole proprietorship); where to incorporate; how to finance startup, growth, and expansion; and what activities may threaten corporate protections.

 

Bio:

Laura E. Jordan, Esq. is Managing Principal of The Capital Law Firm, PLLC, in Washington, DC.  She has served, among other things, on the national products liability defense team for a major international automobile manufacturer, and as trademark anti-counterfeiting counsel for a French luxury leather goods manufacturer. 

She has assisted her clients in raising millions of dollars in private equity financing, and has advised about establishing or maintaining corporate control of startups and emerging ventures.  She also has broad experience in the entertainment industry. 

With more than 20 years litigation experience, she has tried numerous jury trials to conclusion in federal and state courts.  A significant portion of her clients are international entities.  In conjunction with Redlight Children founder/film director Guy Jacobson, she directs Redlight Children’s Civil Litigation Pilot Project, an innovative civil litigation model designed to interrupt demand for child sex services. 

She also coordinates with the United States Department of State to work on Access to Justice and Rule of Law issues in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries.
