Monday Morning Speaker:  Katherine Grace Braeman

SHIFTING PERSPECTIVES--Try Knocking on the Back Door!

Speaker Website:  www.thekatalystconnection.com

As an executive coach, Kathy Braeman will explore how you can best connect with people who value you, who want to become a cheerleader for you, and help you explore and find your new niche. She will demonstrate how to shift your perspective from seeing only red lights to noticing yellow lights and then moving forward with the green lights.

After you research what's "out there," your challenge is how to get "in there." What will make you stand out in the crowd? One strategy is to look like an "insider" vs an "outsider."

How do you reinvent yourself as an "insider?"

Connections. What connections do you have and what connections can you develop? The Internet can help: Facebook, LinkedIn can provide wonderful vehicles for you to tap. And you should tap them. What other paths can you use to connect: school ties, past jobs, organizations where you volunteer, neighbors, family members.

We will explore ways to expand your quest to find that welcoming back door. How can you expand your outreach efforts? Who are connectors who will help you connect?

BIO

Kathryn Grace Braeman explored many paths during her career where she moved from teacher to lawyer to judge. Over a long career, she worked on the staff of a U.S. Senator and for three different agencies. She began her career in training at the Office of Personal Management, did policy work at the Department of Justice, and litigation at the Department of Defense.

In her last job before she "graduated," she was an Administrative Judge who traveled to ever corner of the country. No longer a judge, she now acts a catalyst for people to find strategies to empower themselves and to expand their options which resonate with their values and visions. Her theme song is "connected, focused, empowered."

Kathryn has a BA from Northwestern University, an MA from the University of Kansas, and a law degree from the University of Nebraska. She has been active as a leader in a wide range of organizations from her church to the the AAUW, the NAWJ, the ABA, the UNA, and Toastmasters International. Kathryn recently joined the Capitol Hill Village and The Transition Network (TTN).

In her career she has done several job searches and has had the most success by knocking at the back door! Kathryn got her first job in government when she revealed in her interview that she had run for a seat in the U.S. Congress and lost!
