This session will look at the rewarding career opportunities available in the field of association management. We’ll also focus on the programming and education for association professionals offered by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

ASAE CareerHQ.org is the site for job seekers looking to land the right job with an association or industry partner organization, as well as employers seeking highly qualified applicants, from entry level to CEO.

BIO

Catherine Lux is the Program Director for Career Services and Endorsed Programs for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). In her role, she manages ASAE’s online career center, CareerHQ.org, which includes an online job board, coaching and resume services, salary data, and articles for association management professionals. Lux recently joined the ASAE Services team in November 2008.

Prior to joining ASAE, she spent eight years in association management at the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS).

At AIAS, she developed and expanded the profitable, well-received industry-wide competitions (member programs) while concurrently coordinating annual conference growth and logistics, member communications and association website, and member services/benefits. The sponsored competitions contributed to approximately 10% of total AIAS revenue. This non-dues revenue allowed for recruitment of additional senior-level staff as well as allowed the organization to embark on a capital campaign to raise additional funds for leadership and community service initiatives.

Ms. Lux created exposure for the organization in print media including AARP Magazine, Los Angeles Times and online journals. She also expanded worldwide participants/potentials of established competitions to an average of 450 entries per year (400% growth rate).

A native Hoosier, Catherine attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. She majored in English Literature and Communications Arts and Sciences.
