with Jim Carman

Jim Carman, Career Management Consultant with Right Management, a global provider of integrated consulting solutions, will be discussing some of the more interesting transition experiences that his clients have experienced recently as they went about the business of networking, interviewing, and negotiating.

BIO

Jim Carman served in the Navy for more than twenty-four years and attained the rank of Captain in November 1993. His operational experience in naval aviation includes command of a maritime patrol and reconnaissance squadron between 1988 and 1990 and command of a maritime patrol and reconnaissance wing deployed throughout the Pacific Rim, Indian Ocean, and Persian Gulf during 1995 and 1996.

His service in Washington. D.C. includes three years in the Executive Office of the President as Assistant National Security Advisor to the Vice President, initially serving Vice President Quayle and later reappointed by Vice President Gore. In this capacity, he gained experience at the highest levels of government in national security policy development and implementation while participating in significant bilateral discussions with Argentina, Chile, Brazil, South Africa, El Salvador, Mexico, and Canada.

Since retiring from the naval service in 1998, Jim serves as a Flight Officer with American Airlines and as a Career Management Consultant with Right Management, the world’s leading global provider of integrated consulting solutions.

Mr. Carman also serves as a speaker and writer on career transition topics with Aviation Information Resources (AIR Inc. – www.jet-jobs.com) of Atlanta, Georgia, an airline pilot career transition and aviation consulting group, and writes a series of articles on career transition planning for Today’s Officer (www.todaysofficer.org), the quarterly career journal published by the Military Officers Association of America.

In addition, he consults on aviation officer career development with the Navy Personnel Command, leads a Washington, D.C.-based career development consulting practice, and serves as a director and business development advisor with several growing companies.

Jim has also earned graduate degrees in national security studies and business management, and completed the Senior Executive Training Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
